Paul Stafford FCCA - TBL Partner

Paul Stafford FMAAT FCCA MInstLM


Paul set up TBL with Chris Humpage, and provides expert advice on gifts, trusts, estate planning and more.

Having worked in Southend most of his career, Paul qualified in 1996 and became a partner in the local office of a London firm in 1998. In 2017 Paul and Chris set up a new independent practice, TBL Accountants.

Paul has a wide and varied client portfolio, including those in the Charity sector - an area where Paul has wide experience having served as trustees for a number of Charities. He believes a strong open relationship in clients of all sizes achieve their objectives. Paul is a registered auditor authorised to execute statutory audits for UK registered companies and charities.

Outside of work, Paul is a long-suffering West Ham fan, plays Tennis (poorly!) and is a local District Commissioner for Scouting.

Chris Humpage FCA


Chris set up TBL with Paul Stafford, and is experienced in business valuations, preparing exit strategies and more.

Chris trained with a Top 50 firm in Suffolk and qualified in 1996, becoming a Partner in the local office of a London firm in 2009. In 2017 Chris and Paul set up a new independent practice, TBL Accountants.

Chris has a wide and varied client portfolio, with a large number of clients in the motor industry. Chris believes that the most important person in his business relationship with his clients is his client. He is a registered auditor authorised to execute statutory audits for UK registered companies and charities.

Outside of work, assuming he is not taking one of his children to dancing or cricket, you will find Chris on a golf course, on his bike or watching cricket.

Lisa Keith FMAAT FCA


Lisa works with Paul Stafford in the management of his client portfolio.

Lisa is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales and a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and has been working in practice in Southend for the last 4 years. She ensures that the firm's standards for quality are upheld and ensures adherence to deadlines.

Lisa has worked with a wide variety of clients and has a special interest in Charity accounting and has experience with solicitor’s accounts rules.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Ian Chandler FCA ATII


Ian is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor who trained locally in Southend, gained good all round experience in London before setting up in practice in Southend in 1988.

Ian specialises in family businesses with particular expertise in the recruitment, hotel, restaurant and personal service companies. He has served on the local Chartered Accountants group for many years.

Outside of accountancy, Ian is an experienced private pilot, is chairman of local flying club, former school governor and West Ham season ticket holder.

Lisa Bronze


Lisa provides secretarial support for Partners, office administration and company secretarial work for clients.

Lisa has over 30 years of secretarial, managerial and office experience for a wide variety of industries.

When she’s not at work, Lisa enjoys the Arts, mainly photography and music, gardening and entertaining with friends and family.

Lydia Paul


As our front of office in our Billericay office, Lydia provides secretarial support for the Partners, as well as admin support and maintaining clients’ information.

Lydia has 5 years’ experience in customer service and administration roles, with qualifications in Business and Finance.

When she’s not working, Lydia is an avid explorer, whether it’s a day trip with her partner and their husky or travelling across Asia!

Jo Upton


Jo provides secretarial support for Partners, office administration, company secretarial work for clients and is our events co-ordinator.

Jo has 26 years of experience working in an office, the majority of which has been in practice. Outside of work, Jo enjoys going to the gym 3-4 times a week and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Rachel Banford

Assistant Accountant

Rachel does bookkeeping at TBL, with a key focus on VAT return preparations.

Before working at TBL, Rachel was at college studying AAT Level 2 Accounting.

In her spare time Rachel loves exploring new places, embracing different cultures and trying foods. Her favourite quote is “The quality of your thinking determines the quality of your life”.

Accounts Assistant

El processes clients’ CIS and VAT returns, prepares small company accounts, and assists with payroll.

Having worked in accountancy since she left Sixth Form, El has gained invaluable experience across many areas of practice. She has also passed the ACCA FAB Accountant in Business exam. El hopes to specialise in Audit.

Outside of work, you’ll find El competing in a quiz night or on the dancefloor, as she loves ballroom and Latin dancing.

David Rogers

Accounts Senior

David specialises in the preparation of year end accounts, and also provides invaluable training, mentoring and review of our junior staff.

David had worked at a number of local practices, the most recent being ESW in Rayleigh and Masons in Hadleigh and has also worked for BDO as part of their small audit and accounts team.

David’s favourite quote has to be his favourite running quote as he is running mad.

Jack Spinks MAAT


Jack deals with the preparation of accounts for sole traders, limited companies and partnerships.

Jack is AAT qualified and a member of the AAT. He also has 5 years’ experience within an accountancy practice. Jack specialises in the preparation of accounts for sole traders, limited companies and partnerships, and deals with bookkeeping and management accounts for clients on a monthly basis.

In his free time, Jack enjoys playing football on a weekly basis and he is a supporter of Manchester United.

Peter Stafford MAAT

Audit and Accounts Semi-Senior

Peter completes year-end accounts and statutory audits.

Peter has worked in accounting for approximately three years, starting out at bookkeeping and moving onto accounts preparation and audit. He is fully AAT qualified and in the process of completing the ACA examination, of which he has completed approximately half.

When Peter isn’t working, he enjoys helping out at a local Scout group, cycling and reading.

Client Service Manager

Gary is responsible for managing the client portfolios of Chris Humpage and Ian Chandler.

Gary has over 35 years of experience working in all areas of accountancy, including Corporate & Personal Taxation, VAT, Payroll and Management Accounting.

When not working Gary enjoys listening to music (from his vast and eclectic collection of records & CDs), reading a good book and sampling single malts (in moderation of course).

Liz Darby ATT

Tax Technician

Liz deals with personal tax compliance ensuring all Tax Returns are submitted on time.

Liz is ATT qualified and has worked for the firm since 2007. She enjoys all areas of tax but works mainly in personal and corporation tax.

Liz enjoys spending time with her friends and family competing in Nuclear Races and going away in the caravan to have some time out from rebuilding her house.

Claire Barrington - Payroll Manager

Claire Barrington

Payroll Manager

Claire is responsible for the managing and processing of payroll operations for our clients.

Claire has been with the company for 7 years now, working within the Payroll department. Prior to this, she worked within the Investment banking sector in London. This was a very pressurised and stressful environment to work in, although it was an experience that gave her the ability to stay calm when approaching deadlines.

When Claire isn’t playing the part of taxi driver for her 2 daughters, she enjoys going to the theatre and eating out.

Colby Fletcher - Bookkeeper

Colby Fletcher


Colby primarily assists with bookkeeping and VAT returns, and provides admin support.

Colby has been in accounting for a year and a half and is currently finalising his AAT Level 4 qualification. He specialises in bookkeeping but is supporting the team in a range of departments as part of his apprenticeship.

Outside of work, Colby can be found treading the boards teaching musical theatre or on the pitch playing football and supporting West Ham.

Lakshmi Musiyiwa MAAT


Latch processes VAT returns and completes the bookkeeping for a variety of clients.

Latch joined the team in 2020 and is responsible for bookkeeping and processing VAT returns for a number of clients, having worked in Bookkeeping for the past 3 years. Latch has completed her AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma and is currently studying towards her ACCA Chartered Accounting qualification.

Outside of work, Latch enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

Tarkan Omer


Tarkan processes VAT returns and completes the bookkeeping for a variety of clients.

With 2 years’ accounting experience, Tarkan is a qualified bookkeeper who is currently working through his AAT Level 4. As part of his role, Tarkan also processes clients’ VAT returns.

When Tarkan’s not working, he enjoys going to the gym, socialising with friends and is a keen traveller.

Kim Sharp

Bookkeeping/CIS Supervisor

Kim processes clients' records, quarterly submissions of VAT and CIS returns and provides training for clients.

Kim has been part of TBL for nearly 3 years and has been at her current position as supervisor for 1 year. Kim is AAT qualified.

The area of accounting Kim specialises in is VAT, Bookkeeping and CIS. She also specialises in the following accounting software, QuickBooks Online, Xero and Sage.

When not at work, Kim loves spending time with her children, making memories and travelling.

Alex Tricker


Alex processes clients' quarterly VAT returns and assists clients with different accounting software.

Alex has worked at the firm for over 2 years and been in his current position for over a year. He holds AAT Level 2 & 3 qualifications.

The areas of accounting Alex mainly specialises in are VAT and Bookkeeping. He also specialises in different accounting software, such as QuickBooks, FreeAgent and Xero.

When he’s not at work, Alex follows West Ham United Football Club, through more tough times than enjoyable ones. He also enjoys travelling.

Kalah Woods - Payroll

Kalah Woods


Kalah is responsible for the managing and processing of payroll operations for our clients.

Kalah worked in payroll for various industries for 10 years, before joining the TBL Accountants team to provide payroll services to businesses of all sizes.

Outside of work, Kalah is very active in her local church, her second family, proudly holding the position of Assistant Church Treasurer there. She also loves to spend time with her family, camping and fishing.

TBL is well known for supporting local events and regularly take on students from schools and colleges for placements and apprenticeships. We continue to engage in this way by welcoming our newest apprentice in early September.

Charity work

Over recent years, we have supported a number of local charities and organisations including the local food bank, HARP, Jeans for Genes, and, most recently, Southend Mencap.

In the past, the firm has taken part in the Foulness Bike Ride, raising money for ‘The Music Man Project’.


TBL strengthens its commitment to the local community by supporting a range of causes and offering opportunities to young people, whilst supporting a wide range of local business with their tax and accountancy requirements.

Managing Partner Paul Stafford is a local Scout Leader and a former primary school governor. Chris Humpage is a former Governor at SEEVIC.
